What is PBIS?
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives.
KDE PBIS Trainings and Resources
Schools and districts seeking PBIS-related trainings should reference the KDE PBIS Training document.
KDE's Behavior Resources website provides instructional resources for general education teachers, special education teachers and district staff to assist in the instruction of students with disabilities. The resources cover topics such as behavior supports and guidance, classroom management, evidence-based practices, and social-emotional learning.
KDE's Bullying and Harassment website provides information to assist students, parents or guardians, educators and community members on the topic of bullying.
KDE's Social, Emotional and Behavioral Learning and Health website provides supports, video series, free activity banks and evidence-based curricula to assist in SEL and mental health for students.

PBIS Fidelity
KDE recognizes schools for implementing PBIS with fidelity! Schools who applied for recognition at three levels, bronze, silver, or gold. All who applied achieved recognition! Reference the PBIS Fidelity School List for those who received each level of recognition. Current standards can be found in the PBIS State Recognition of Fidelity Standards.
PBIS Video Modules
The PBIS video modules were created in partnership with the Center for Instructional and Behavioral Research in Schools (CIBRS) at University of Louisville. District policy for
monitoring completion of professional development, including yearly PBIS
training, will dictate how personnel will be credited for training with the new
modules.

Request for Assistance and/or Training
Schools and districts seeking assistance from the Division of Student Success, Safe and Supportive Schools Branch can complete the Request for Assistance and/or Training. A program consultant will respond in a timely fashion when the request has been submitted.
