Healthy Students Are Better Learners
The mission of the School Health Services team is to support districts as they support students with their health needs. We know that there is a critical link between health and learning and the role of schools to help improve the well-being of students.
Research shows that when school districts and schools have effective policies and practices that support the health of their students and staff there are positive results:
Student concentration improves
Student behavior problems are reduced
Student and staff attendance increases
Children and adolescents develop life-long health-promoting behavior

Per House Bill 141 and Senate Bill 18 (2026), a Type 1 Diabetes Information Sheet has been developed by the Kentucky Department of Education and made available for public access.
