IDEA Application for School Year 2026-27
Each year, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) must submit an application for federal funds under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). As part of this application process, KDE is required to post the DRAFT application for 60 days prior to its effective date of July 1. Within those 60 days, KDE must accept public comments for 30 days. The comment period was March 20 – April 20, 2026.
The public comment period closed on April 20, 2026, at 4:00 PM EST.
The draft application can be found below. This application will be submitted for approval to the US Department of Education on May 20, 2026.
