The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Special Education and Early Learning, Division of State Schools, has an opening for a KSB/KSD Operations Supervisor at the Kentucky School for the Blind in Louisville.​

​Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Plans, organizes, and reviews the work of employees within the Operations Section. The Operations Section includes fleet, maintenance, capital construction projects, grounds security and housekeeping.

Make daily decisions that affect the operations section of the school and campus. Make ad-hoc decisions for unforeseen mishaps with the operations of the school and campus.

Works with KSB administration to provide oversight of ground security to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff.

Responsible for preparation, review and accuracy of all KSB capital construction and major budget projects.

Serve as point of contact for KSB for all contractors, state, and federal officials as it relates to operations to ensure proper procedures are followed on all maintenance projects.

Oversee and identify items related to major maintenance and capital construction projects.

Prepare correspondence and special reports as needed.

Assist in setting up budget allotments for yearly expenditures.

Recommend the acquisition of staff, supplies, and equipment for the Operations Section.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree

Experience, Training, or Skills:

Must have five years of professional experience in public or business administration, facility administration, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or related field.
 
Substitute Education for Experience:

A master's degree in public or business administration or related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute Experience for Education:

Additional experience in public or business administration, facility administration, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, or mechanical maintenance or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
 
Special Requirements (Age, Licensure, Regulation, etc.):

An employee in this job title at the Kentucky School for the Deaf must furnish to the agency's appointing authority or designee within twelve (12) months of appointment or entrance into this class, documentation that he or she possesses the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) rating of "survival" level.

Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other Page 2 of 2 9/12/25 credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Pay Grade: 16

Gross Monthly Salary Range: $4,356.96 - $5,868.20
