DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide technical assistance in site preparation, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance on network hardware equipment and software support such as, troubleshooting network connectivity problems, performing switch and router configurations, and documenting network issues and resolutions within Commonwealth of Technology (COT) and non-consolidated agencies.
Analyze, create, configure, update, troubleshoot, and resolve Active Directory or Google Workspace administrative group policies and organizational structures for users and computers. Create, maintain, and support policy groups and Microsoft Teams Rooms within departmental email and messaging systems. Support staff in the usage and configuration of Teams and Teams devices.
Install, test, and perform analysis in the design, planning, implementation, and operation of networking devices, including hardware such as personal computers, modems, hubs, switches, routers, Channel Service Unit or Data Service Units, and other related equipment. Provide technical assistance for Local-Area-Network (LAN) and Wide-Area-Network (WAN) design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Provide troubleshooting and resolve customer-reported issues by providing client site support for incidents related to operating systems and computer hardware or software. Engage manufacturers and vendors for device and peripheral repair and servicing as required.
Perform maintenance, updates, and upgrades to ensure the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), districts, and schools are digitally safe and current.
Support teammates, other teams, and district personnel (including Kentucky School for the Blind (KSB), Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD), and Area Technology Centers (ATCs)) in implementing, supporting, and maintaining their education technology equipment, software, and services by performing routine diagnostic procedures.
Participate in the installation or relocation of computer hardware, agency-specific software,
and other information technology-related equipment according to enterprise standards. Work with customers to support sanctioned education technology equipment such as laptops, iPads, associated peripherals, and their connectivity.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of network services, Information Technology (IT) systems support, IT production support or a related field.
SUBSTITUTION: EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education in computer science, IT, or a related field will substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in network services, IT systems support, IT production support, or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis; OR a certification in an IT related field will substitute for the required education.
