The department's major activities include:- Administering the statewide assessment and accountability system;
- Providing technical assistance to schools and districts in the areas of finance, management and curriculum;
- Providing support and information to the Kentucky Board of Education as it promulgates state education regulations;
- Overseeing the state education technology system; and
- Monitoring school and district compliance with state and federal laws.
- Providing instructional services to students at Kentucky School for the Blind, Kentucky School for the Deaf and the Area Technology Centers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Perform data collection, data quality and data reporting; provide analytical support for development including design, integration and testing.
Work with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and school districts resolving Commercial Driver License (CDL) license issues by reviewing KYTC Mainframe system.
Collect and review documentation from districts and transmit data to KYTC to correct issues/errors in the Kentucky Driver's License Information System (CDLIS).
Update the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) school bus driver database.
Provide technical assistance to KDE Personnel, KYTC, regional CDL Third Party Examiners, KY Transportation organizations/administrators implementing and/or maintaining various educational programs.
Conduct training of district personnel on the various systems and software's used by KDE for reporting and disseminating information.
Analyze requests for information technology development and assist in preparing long range information technology plans across the agency organizational lines.
Manage the maintenance effort of the Pupil Transportation webpage.
Collaborate with the Office of Education Technology (OET) and the KY Education Technology System (KETS) to troubleshoot system issues as well as recommend system enhancements to databases/processes.
Establish security access and levels in the Pupil Transportation Administration Application interface for school bus driver database / bus incident reporting database.
Troubleshoot issues with system technology group.
Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR a graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in IT or related field OR certification in an IT-related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
One year of systems analysis, IT support, business administration, public administration, or a related field of experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in IT, business or public administration, or a related field will substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Two years of additional experience in computer programming, systems analysis, IT services, research and statistics, business administration, public administration, or a related field will substitute for the education requirement.
