The department employs approximately 425 Frankfort-based workers; 175 employees in support of the Kentucky School for the Blind (Jefferson County) and Kentucky School for the Deaf (Boyle County); and about 518 employees at the 50 Area Technology Centers across the state.
Administering the statewide assessment and accountability system.
Providing technical assistance to schools and districts in the areas of finance, management and curriculum.
Providing support and information to the Kentucky Board of Education as it promulgates state education regulations.
Overseeing the state education technology system and monitoring school and district compliance with state and federal laws.
Providing instructional services to students at Kentucky School for the Blind, Kentucky School for the Deaf and the Area Technology Centers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Provide professional learning opportunities and technical assistance for teachers and administrators; assists in program implementation and curriculum development for improving school climate and culture.
Provide consultative services and technical assistance to Title IV Part A and alternative education programs (A5 & A6 programs).
Conduct monitoring activities as appropriate. Participate in scholastic reviews and school safety assessments.
Prepare and submit all required state and federal reports. Serve as support person for safe schools' annual statistical report and assist with state and federal school safety grant activities.
Collect, organize, and disseminate materials/information to school districts, particularly in the areas of school climate/culture, mental health, positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), as well as bullying, substance use and suicide prevention.
Develop and maintain files of exemplary resources, materials and programs.
Respond to calls and correspondence requesting assistance with school safety concerns or school safety-related programming and information concerning their educational programs.
Serve as liaison to other offices within KDE and external agencies.
Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Three years of professional experience in education, career and technical education, or a related field.

Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Department of Education or Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement.
