​The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Special Education and Early Learning, Division of IDEA Monitoring and Results, has an opening for an Assistant Director, for Franklin County. ​

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in managing the work of the Division of IDEA Monitoring and Results. Assist the director in the coordination of inter-division, inter-office, and cross-agency work.


Write, review, analyze, and monitor correspondence and reports for accuracy and conformity with policies and procedures.

Accurately interpret and accurately apply federal and state statues, regulations, and policies and procedures related to diverse learners.

Locate, create, lead, and engage in professional development within the division to promote growth of staff.

Assist the director in the development and revision of regulations as needed. Prepare briefing materials and presentations. Perform the duties of and represent the division in the absence of the division director.

Perform other duties as assigned.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
 
EDUCATION:

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:

Four years of administrative or management experience.
 
SUBSTITUTION:
 
EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:

A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.

EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:

Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year- for-year basis.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):

None.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a federally funded time limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification but is not required to take an examination or be graded through the testing and evaluation process. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.

Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check.

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment is given.

In accordance with KRS 161.220 the applicant selected for this position will become a member of the Teachers' Retirement System.

Pay Grade: 18       
         
Gross Monthly Salary Range: $5,271.84 - $6,880.26

The agency may authorize the selected applicant to telecommute on a hybrid schedule. The agency may terminate or modify the telecommuting arrangement at any time. Telework will not be permitted outside the state of Kentucky.
