Scottie Collier, an educator with 24 years of experience, currently serves as an elementary school principal. Motivated by a teaching shortage in high-need areas in the early 2000s, he answered the call to serve his community by entering the education field. Collier is dedicated to helping students become lifelong learners and preparing them for future success.

What keeps you motivated and passionate about your work in education?

"The more prepared my students are when they leave my school the better prepared they will be to succeed at the next level. Keeping high expectations and motivating staff and students to be the best version of themselves helps me stay passionate about my work."

What do you wish more people understood about the impact of teachers in society?

"The stronger our school system is, the stronger our Commonwealth will be."

The EPSB emphasizes the importance of educators exemplifying responsible and ethical behavior. How does the EPSB's Code of Ethics impact your approach to teaching and professional conduct?

"Having strong ethics and responsibility help shape how we impact students. We use those character traits to model to our student how they can improve their personal growth to become responsible, ethical members of our society."
