The department's major activities include:- Administering the statewide assessment and accountability system;
- Providing technical assistance to schools and districts in the areas of finance, management and curriculum;
- Providing support and information to the Kentucky Board of Education as it promulgates state education regulations;
- Overseeing the state education technology system; and
- Monitoring school and district compliance with state and federal laws.
- Providing instructional services to students at Kentucky School for the Blind, Kentucky School for the Deaf and the Area Technology Centers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Leads in the analysis of business processes and in the collaboration between internal and external stakeholders for the development, maintenance, and improvement of Information Technology (IT) systems solutions; and performs other duties as required.
Serves as system project team lead in data collection, data quality, and data reporting;
provides analytical support for development including design, integration, and testing.
Works with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) & school districts resolving Commercial Driver License (CDL) license issues by reviewing KYTC Mainframe system.
Including the collection and review of documentation from districts and transmitting data to KYTC to correct issues/errors in the Kentucky Driver's License Information System (CDLIS) and updating the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) school bus driver database.
Serves as lead technical advisor in reflecting the goals of KDE to school districts, KDE
Personnel, KYTC, regional CDL Third Party Examiners, Kentucky Transportation
organizations/administrators implementing and/or maintaining various educational programs.
Conducts training of district personnel on the various systems and software's used by KDE for reporting and disseminating information.
Analyzes requests for information technology development and prepares long range information technology plans across the agency organizational lines. Manages the maintenance effort of the Pupil Transportation webpage.
Establish security access and levels in the Pupil Transportation Administration Application
interface for school bus driver database/bus incident reporting database.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR a graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in IT or related field OR certification in an IT-related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Three years of systems analysis, IT support, business administration, or public administration experience or a related field of experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in IT, business or public administration, or a related field will substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Two years of additional experience in computer programming, systems analysis, IT services, research and statistics, business administration, or public administration, or a related field will substitute for the education requirement.
