The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Special Education and Early Learning, Division of IDEA Monitoring and Results, has an opening for an Exceptional Children Consultant - MOA position in Franklin County.​
​DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general direction, accurately interprets and enforces the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regarding federal laws, state regulations, and policies for local school districts.
Review and investigate allegations that a school district has violated a requirement of state or federal special education law.
Produce, with accuracy and within the 60-day timeline, a Report of Findings as it relates to the IDEA Formal Written Complaints portion of the Dispute Resolution Process.
Manage corrective action plans (CAPs) resulting from formal written complaints and ensure timely correction of noncompliance.
Keep assistant division director and division director informed of any problems or issues that arise as it relates to an IDEA Formal Written Complaint. Participate on various KDE project teams and cross-functional work.
Produce data/information for state and federal reporting as it relates to IDEA Formal Written Complaints.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Must have four years of professional experience in the field of education.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.)
Must have full certification in special education or exceptional children education. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credential.

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment will be given.
In accordance with KRS 161.220 the applicant selected for this position will become a member of the Teachers' Retirement System.
NOTE: This position will be filled through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The applicant selected for this position must be an employee of a Kentucky local school district or institution of higher education.
