The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Assessment and Accountability, Division of Accountability, Data, and Analysis, Data Management Branch, has an opening for a Databased Administrator III in Frankfort.
The Kentucky Department of Education is a service agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and part of the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. The department provides resources and guidance to Kentucky's public schools and districts as they implement the state's P-12 education requirements. The department also serves as the state liaison for federal education requirements and funding opportunities.
The department is led by an appointed commissioner of education, who is hired by and answers to the 11-member Kentucky Board of Education. Offices are administered by associate commissioners and divisions within those offices are administered by division directors. The department employs approximately 425 Frankfort-based workers; 175 employees in support of the Kentucky School for the Blind (Jefferson County) and Kentucky School for the Deaf (Boyle County); and about 518 employees at the 50 Area Technology Centers across the state.

The department's major activities include:
Administering the statewide assessment and accountability system;
Providing technical assistance to schools and districts in the areas of finance, management and curriculum;
Providing support and information to the Kentucky Board of Education as it promulgates state education regulations;
Overseeing the state education technology system; and Monitoring school and district compliance with state and federal laws.
Providing instructional services to students at Kentucky School for the Blind, Kentucky School for the Deaf and the Area Technology Centers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as a technical lead in the management, administration and maintenance of databases for the statewide assessment and accountability system. Performs analysis, design, implementation, and problem resolution for databases issues.
Serves as technical lead in the management, administration and maintenance of databases for the statewide assessment and accountability system. Utilizes team practices and procedures, while understanding organization structures and approved tools for database management.
Serves as a lead in the design, coding and management of complex database systems for the assessment and accountability system. Ensure data accessibility and functionality to support schools and districts in meeting accountability goals through secure and efficient reporting.
Designs and creates new database systems to integrate previously separate databases. Performs analysis, design, implementation, and problem resolution for databases issues.
Codes and tests programs to produce databases, reports or utilizing assessment and accountability data.
Provides technical assistance and training to office staff and users in the design and implementation of assessment and accountability data systems and assisting with optimizing functionality of computer systems for ongoing initiatives.
Compiles, evaluates, and interprets technical reports the state assessment and accountability system and other Kentucky Department of Education sources.
Develops and analyzes technical documentation and specifications based on assessment and accountability data.
Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree OR certification in an Information Technology (IT) related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Six years of professional experience in IT service desk analysis, desktop support, database analysis, application programming, systems analysis, server support, computer operating system management, or related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education in computer science, IT, or related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Two years of additional experience in IT service desk analysis, desktop support, database analysis, application programming, systems analysis, server support, computer operating system management, or related field will substitute for the required education.

Pay Grade: 17 Gross Monthly Salary Range: $4,652.86 -$ 6979.38 - 37.5 Hr.
