The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Career and Technical Education, Division of Technical Schools and Continuous Improvement, Data and Investment Branch has an opening for an Adult/Tech Admin Consultant III.
The Kentucky Department of Education is a service agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and part of the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. The department provides resources and guidance to Kentucky's public schools and districts as they implement the state's P-12 education requirements. The department also serves as the state liaison for federal education requirements and funding opportunities.
The department is led by an appointed commissioner of education, who is hired by and answers to the 11-member Kentucky Board of Education. Offices are administered by associate commissioners and divisions within those offices are administered by division directors.
The department employs approximately 425 Frankfort-based workers; 175 employees in support of the Kentucky School for the Blind (Jefferson County) and Kentucky School for the Deaf (Boyle County); and about 518 employees at the 50 Area Technology Centers across the state.

The department's major activities include:
Administering the statewide assessment and accountability system;
Providing technical assistance to schools and districts in the areas of finance, management and curriculum;
Providing support and information to the Kentucky Board of Education as it promulgates state education regulations;
Overseeing the state education technology system; and
Monitoring school and district compliance with state and federal laws.
Providing instructional services to students at Kentucky School for the Blind, Kentucky School for the Deaf, and the Area Technology Centers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Provide consultative services and technical assistance in the development, coordination, implementation, and operation to vet, train, and hire qualified career and technical education teachers. Performs other duties as required.
Admit and exit teachers from New Teacher Institute in Kentucky Educator Certification System (KECS). Complete staffing of teachers in KECS for all Area Technology Centers. Process, upload and monitor applications in KECS. Communicate certification of new teachers to New Teacher Institute and renewals of one-year provisional certificates.
Assist with review of Perkins secondary and postsecondary applications and assist with routine communications to secondary and postsecondary applicants to ensure compliance with Perkins requirements, including the quality requirement for secondary programs to have certified and appropriately endorse teacher.
Review occupational based certification applicant data, maintain data for occupational based teacher certifications, and confer with Program Consultants as needed regarding applications.
Track and process occupational base teacher rank changes, monitor certificate expiration dates and send renewal reminders. Coordinate and proctor Kentucky Online Testing (KYOTE) and National Occupational Competency Testing Institute testing for occupational based teachers.
Serve as liaison between Office of Career and Technical Education and Education Professional Standards Board.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in education or a closely related field supplemented by two years of administrative experience. Additional administrative experience in school, regional, or state administration may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
Salary Range: $61,020 - $90,407
Salary is dependent upon rank and experience.
