Culinary Arts Teacher

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Special Education and Early Learning, Division of State Schools, Kentucky School for the Deaf, in Danville (Boyle County), has an opening for a Culinary Arts Teacher.

​DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan/Implement teaching and learning for deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students using state content standards for high school CTE Culinary Arts.

Develop/Implement teaching and learning to support the individual needs and learning styles of DHH students.

Develop/Administer appropriate assessments (formative/summative) for DHH students.

Maintain accurate records on student achievement, attendance, and special education requirements.

Implement and monitor student Individual Education Programs (IEP) goals and objectives.

Manage student behaviors in order to provide a safe, nurturing learning climate for students.

Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.

Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to support students' behavioral and academic needs.

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must hold a valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate with the Educational Professional Standards Board. Three (3) years of professional experience in education, vocational education, or a related field.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Proficiency in ASL preferred. Expected to attain SLPI rating of Intermediate within four years of employment as part of tenure consideration.

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment will be given.

In accordance with KRS 161.220 the applicant selected for this position will become a member of the Teachers' Retirement System.

2022-2023 Salary: Dependent upon qualifications, training, and experience.
