The School Growth Chart:

To see how we're performing, please take a moment to examine our growth chart. This chart starts with our school’s baseline CATS score from 2000. We've drawn a goal line from that starting point to our goal of 100 in 2014. Every two years a new index point will be marked on the chart to show whether we are meeting our goal and earning rewards, progressing but short of our goal, or falling far short of our goal and eligible for state assistance. Over time, these points will form a performance trend line for our school.

About Our School

The Picadome School Community is committed to all students becoming life long learners through academic success and responsible citizenship.  Each day begins with our Morning News Show broadcast live from our TV studio.  Anchored by fifth grade students, the show maintains an instructional focus with daily lessons to support core content by our principal, music/drama teacher, science lab teacher, art teacher and/or our physical education/health teacher.  Our staff is committed to creating and maintaining a learning-centered environment in which all students are successful.  Additional support for our academic program includes a part-time reading teacher, Accelerated Reader, Curriculum Nights for parents/guardians, Family Literacy Nights, Computer Lab, Second Step Character Education, Special Education, English as a Second Language teacher, Quest (services for gifted students), Science Lab, Science Fun Day, Science Fair, Art Exhibits, Field Day, DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) Band, Orchestra, Paws Performers (chorus), Extended School Services (ESS), Science Club, Book Club, Drama Club, Family Resource Center, and Guest Performers/Speakers. We have an active PTA involved in supporting all students in academic achievement and social development. (Note: Teacher Qualifications Section based on current year data.)

How Our School Ensures Educational Equity

To ensure educational equity, all students have access to all curriculum.  We use our curriculum map to implement a curriculum aligned with state standards. Through monthly grade level meetings, our faculty continues to refine our curriculum map including timelines, assessments, and instructional activities to meet the needs of our students. Faculty members analyze disaggregated data throughout the school year to identify and address achievement gaps. Student progress and interventions are documented and monitored by classroom teachers. Our SBDM Committees review disaggregated student achievement data to identify needed revisions for our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.  The equity component of our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan consists of strategies and activities to eliminate barriers to learning for all students.

How Our Students Perform

Kentucky uses the Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS) to hold schools accountable for student progress. CATS has three parts: the Kentucky Core Content Tests, the national Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS/5), and other measures of the school’s performance, including attendance, retention and dropout rates. Together these three elements make up a school’s CATS Performance Score for every two-year period.

Kentucky Core Content Tests

Kentucky’s tests rate student performance using four categories: Novice, Apprentice, Proficient, and Distinguished. These categories translate into a scale of 0-140, with 100 being considered proficient. The state goal for all schools is 100 by the year 2014. This chart compares our school's performance with all the schools in our district and all the schools in Kentucky.
