Administrators, counselors, and teachers should participate in ongoing professional development opportunities concerning advising and transitions. The following resources and links are available to provide necessary and useful training.
The Kentucky Counseling Association offers professional development
Opportunities at the annual conference held in October of each year. Usually
Both one day (6 hour) and two day (12 hour) sessions are offered at the beginning
of the conference.
The Kentucky School Counselor Association also offers professional development opportunities at its annual conference held in March of each year, along with offering online courses.
- The Kentucky Education Cooperatives. Kentucky has a host of educational cooperatives that provide assistance and expertise for the benefit of their member school districts. The cooperatives provide comprehensive educational services and programs that support the member districts and their schools in their school improvement efforts. Several of the coops have a counselor’s cadre that meets at various times throughout the year and provide professional development specific to counseling, advising and transitions.
