INFORMATION FOR NEW RTA STAFF

Last Updated on Tuesday, November 03, 2009 at 5:05 AM

Welcome to the world of Read to Achieve (RTA)! There are over 300 schools across the state that have RTA grants. We are delighted to have you as part of the RTA team at your school. On this page you will find the important information you will need to get started.

MEET WITH YOUR RTA SCHOOL TEAM...
One of your first tasks is to schedule time to meet with your RTA school team for an overview of the program and the upcoming year. Working with the RTA grant is a collaborative process. The RTA team (RTA intervention teacher, data coordinator, and principal) should meet on a regular basis to discuss appropriate grant implementation, upcoming events, testing windows etc. The expectation is that no one person is solely responsible for implementation of the RTA grant but that it be shared.

RTA communication (usually in the form of email) is sent to the entire RTA school team (the Principal, Intervention Teacher, and Data Coordinator).

This serves as a cross-reference to ensure at least one or two members of the team have received/read the email and can relate the information to team members. It also prevents critical information from being overlooked, reduces the risk of communication gaps, and helps ensure the school remains in compliance with their grant.

KNOW YOUR ROLE AS PART OF THE RTA SCHOOL TEAM...
The RTA grant requirements will give you a complete explanation of your role and responsibilities as a new RTA team member at your school.  Click HERE to view the grant requirements.

ASK AN EXISTING RTA SCHOOL TEAM MEMBER TO ADD YOU TO THE MGT SYSTEM UNDER USER ACCOUNTS...
An existing member of your RTA school team (Principal, Data Coordinator, or Intervention Teacher) must login to the MGT site and update the contact list for each school.

LOG IN TO THE MGT OF AMERICA DATA SYSTEM
Schools are responsible for updating the Read to Achieve contact information when there are staff changes. These changes must be made in the MGT data system. An existing user must log in to the system and go to the MAIN MENU. Click on USERACCOUNTS and follow the directions given.

The name of the new person's name should be added. Names no longer associated with the RTA grant need to be removed. Periodically, schools should check the MGT Data System to make sure contact names and e-mail addresses are current for your school.

These updates will ensure critical information is being sent to the correct individuals associated with the RTA grant.

NOTIFY CIA OF ANY/ALL CONTACT CHANGES:
In addition, someone from the RTA School Team must notify the state RTA assessment vendor (Center for Innovation in Assessment, CIA), by email of the change (tpro@indiana.edu).
