The first chapter begins in 58 Kentucky newspapers the week of Sept. 11, 2011. Schools can contact their local newspaper to request free newspapers and receive scrapbooks for students to use to collect each weekly chapter. Online chapter activities and chapter podcasts with the main character, Woody, reading each chapter will be available at www.kypress.com

“Doghouse Divided,” by Kentucky author Leigh Anne Florence, is a new story to be published for the first time this fall in 58 Kentucky newspapers. This year’s theme is the Civil War. Kentucky’s favorite canines, Woody and Chloe have found themselves in the middle of excitement once again. The pups make a large purchase at a neighborhood yard sale. In order to replace the money they spent and to prove their serious about their new investment, Woody and Chloe get a job at the local library, which is preparing a new section titled Brother Against Brother for the 150th Commemoration of the Civil War.  Woody and Chloe learn about The War Between the States researching the possible causes, different battles, important people, the aftermath of the outcome, and where the phrase Brother Against Brother came from..  This is a story for readers of all ages.
