Preschool

 

Even Start  - Kentucky Even Start Programs provide intensive family literacy services that integrate learning activities for parents and children, helping parents to become active partners in their children's education, and children to achieve a high level of success in school and life.  Even Start offers educational opportunities to families most in need, as defined by levels of literacy, income, poverty, English as a Second Language and other related factors.

 

Primary

 

Kentucky's Reading First Grants- Reading First is a major federal initiative within the new reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act: No Child Left Behind to improve reading for primary age (K-3) children throughout the state.  The United States Department of Education will send Kentucky 13.7 million dollars annually for the next six years.  Kentucky will continue to build upon its commitment to improving literacy and ensuring that all children leave the primary program reading on grade level.
