Kentucky offers world language study in a variety of languages (ASL, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Japanese, Latin, Russian, Spanish, Spanish for Spanish students), and at multiple entry points (preschool, primary, intermediate, middle and high school) depending upon the school and school district.

Levels of study range from introductory to Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes. Spanish language immersion programs exist at Maxwell Elementary in Fayette County (partial language immersion) and Hawthorne Elementary in Jefferson County (dual immersion).
