I have noticed a big difference in my students' attitudes toward taking a test since we have started using the text reader. It has given them more self confidence. They would much rather be at the computer and being read to than having someone to read to them.
Crabbe Elementary, Ashland Independent Schools
I have 4th grade students who absolutely cannot wait to use "Peedy" to help them with their pieces. Yesterday, I had a 4th grade student, who is labeled with a Mild Mental Disability, finish one of her pieces. She then had "Peedy" read it to her. I watched her sitting at the computer and smiling the whole time! I could tell that she was so proud of herself and "Peedy" made that possible. My students love him!
Owingsville Elementary, Bath County Schools
I enjoy the program [Read and Write Gold] because it helps the students to catch their spelling mistakes and for my students who cannot read it helps them also with sounds. Most students really enjoy typing and viewing web information with the program as well.
North Todd Elementary, Todd County Schools
Using Read & Write Gold has provided the motivation my students needed to write. They love typing in a story and hearing it as they go and then as an end product. They ask, "When can we go to the lab?" rather than, "Ughh, why do we have to go?"
Russellville Middle School, Russellville Independent Schools
I love the text reader. It frees me up to help more students and allows my students to be more independent.
Mercer County High School, Mercer County Schools
The kids in my class love this program. It is very beneficial to my readers who no longer wish to have direct assistance from their teachers (my kids are EBD and some of them are very independent). Also, the program is very beneficial for all core content areas and also is a great test review tool for my mainstreamed students!
Beaver Dam Elementary, Ohio County Schools
This software has been extremely helpful in the development of Writing Portfolios for my 7th grade students.
Pine Knot Middle School, McCreary County Schools
The program has greatly helped my students to proofread and edit their portfolio pieces. When they hear their writing being read back to them aloud they are able to catch their mistakes before they turn their papers in. It's awesome!
North Marshall Middle School, Marshall County Schools
At the high school two social studies teachers have used the research feature with their classes for major projects this past month (approximately 210 students).
Paul Blazer High School, Ashland Independent Schools
My students are developing a greater feeling of independence with this program. Some are feeling more successful as writers, especially with the word prediction feature of the program. This has taken some of the frustration out of the task of writing.
Cedar Grove Elementary, Bullitt County Schools
My students ask to use RWG [Read and Write Gold]. They have greater independence with it. Students write twice as much as they would without using RWG.
Campbell County High School, Campbell County Schools
The students enjoy this program. They are able to type spelling sentences. They are excited that they do not have to ask someone if their sentences are correct. They are able to hear the sentences being read and make their own changes. We have used this program for several portfolio writings. This has been a time saver for me as the teacher and the students are proud of themselves because they completed the task without having to ask how to spell words or ask if the sentences they wrote were correct.
South Christian Elementary, Christian County Schools
My kids love the program [Read and Write Gold]. They actually enjoy coming in my room knowing that they will have an opportunity to read current events and such by the use of this program.
Western High School, Jefferson County Schools
I have found that using R&W Gold has helped my students immensely with original compositions, as well as with researching topics.
Montgomery County High School, Montgomery County Schools
This tool is wonderful for students who struggle to read. They gain independence by not requiring a teacher to read for them. They learn to use this software very quickly. I like that internet sites can be read aloud by text reader. Need more digital text in libraries and all text books should come as a digital version.
Shelby County High School, Shelby County Schools
Using the text reader with students on their own writings has increased their independence in editing skills across the entire school.
McKell Middle School, Greenup County Schools
Great software! It really gets my students interested in reading and wanting to write.
Todd County Middle School, Todd County Schools
Read and Write Gold has been a great addition to my classroom. Because the students are independently completing their work, their self-confidence has improved greatly.
Hiseville Elementary, Barren County Schools
I have students with limited language usage and the TextHELP helps the student to expand their language and create a more effective writing piece.
Crab Orchard Elementary, Lincoln County Schools
I love to use Read and Write Gold with my students. It makes reading, writing, and spelling fun to my 6th graders and it is easy for my students to learn how to use. Any time there is a writing assignment, my students beg to use the program.
Calloway County Middle School, Calloway County Schools
It is great!!! It has turned some of my students from not wanting to write . . .into wanting to write. It has eliminated a portion of the frustration they feel when they are required to write a portfolio piece, an open-response and/or journal entry. They love the prediction and the spell check!! This is truly a great program for this population.
Sturgis Elementary, Union County
The students really enjoyed the program lately. They are completing a power point presentation on Kentucky. They used the read and write gold to help them with the reading of material off the internet. This program has been a time saver for me. The students are proud of what they are doing and completing on their own.
