Teachers from Adair County elementary schools worked together to design curriculum maps that aligned their current resources to the Kentucky Program of Studies and Core Content for Assessment 4.1. These resources in addition to teacher experience served as the basis of their maps.
A district-wide curriculum planning day has been added to the Adair County school calendar so that teachers can meet in content or grade-level teams to review the maps over time and determine if any revisions are necessary. According to Christie Paxton, a teacher at Colonel William Casey Elementary, Adair County’s mapping efforts “have already produced excellent results.”
