(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – The second annual Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) State Championship will be held Thursday and Friday, May 10 and 11, at the Lexington Convention Center.
Students will compete in many areas of technology, and the opening ceremonies will begin 1 p.m. Thursday. The best products, presenters, projects and live performances will be recognized at an awards program on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Bluegrass Ballroom. The event is scheduled to end at 10 p.m. on Friday.
Students from nearly 300 schools from across the state are expected to attend the event, which includes technology performances by students and competitions in a variety of categories.
Special events include the AT&T Interactive Video Conferencing presentation, the Georgetown College Robotics Competition and the Microsoft and Dell Gaming Competition. The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a mobile recording and video production studio, also will be available to participants at the competition.
STLP is a project-based learning program that empowers students in all grade levels to use technology to learn and achieve. It was established in 1994 by the STLP State Advisory Council, which is composed of teachers, students and community leaders. The program is open to all students in all grade levels in every school in Kentucky.
The best projects from fall regional STLP showcases will be competing at this event. Showcase projects will compete for a spot at the National Educational Computer Conference (NECC) in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 26.
The state competition provides many learning opportunities for students, teachers, staff and parents, with student presentations scheduled throughout the competition.
