(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – A public hearing on the characteristics for the next Kentucky commissioner of education will be held Monday, January 29, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the State Board Room of the Capital Plaza Tower in Frankfort.
Individuals who are interested in being heard at this hearing should notify the Kentucky Department of Education in writing five working days prior to the hearing. Anyone who wishes to be heard will be given an opportunity to comment on the characteristics for the next commissioner. Written comments also will be accepted through Friday, January 26.
Notice of intent to attend the hearing and written comments may be sent to Mary Ann Miller, Policy Advisor, Office of the Commissioner, Kentucky Department of Education, 1st Floor, 500 Mero Street, Frankfort KY 40601; fax (502) 564-5680; e-mail maryann.miller@education.ky.gov.

The Kentucky Board of Education’s Commissioner Search Committee also will meet on Monday, January 29, beginning at 11 a.m. or immediately upon adjournment of the public hearing.
The committee will meet in the State Board Room. The agenda will center around the search process.
A list of draft characteristics for the next Kentucky Education Commissioner follows, along with an agenda for the Search Committee meeting.
