(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – The Kentucky Board of Education met today to discuss the process, timeline and procedures for the search process to hire a new commissioner of education.
Representatives of Ray and Associates, the firm hired by the board to manage the process, attended the meeting. Board members discussed some general characteristics to look for in candidates, compensation and benefits for the position and promotional and advertising materials.
The board took no formal action, but did tentatively schedule a public hearing on January 29 at 9 a.m. EST at the Capital Plaza Tower in Frankfort to gather input from citizens about preferred qualities of the next commissioner. The board’s Search Committee also will meet that day, and the meeting is tentatively set to begin at 11 a.m.
More information about the public hearing and meeting of the Search Committee will be available within the next week.
