(FRANKFORT, Ky.) -- The 2002-03 School and District Report Cards are now available online, the Kentucky Department of Education announced today.
School Report Cards also are mailed directly to the parents and guardians of public school students. They and District Report Cards may be accessed here.
Not to be confused with student report cards, the School Report Cards provide information about each school, including test performance, teacher qualifications, student safety, awards, parent involvement and much more. The report cards are designed to open lines of communication between the school, the homes of its students and its local community. They provide an opportunity for schools to highlight their strengths and explain what they are doing to improve.
KRS 158.6453 requires that public schools and districts produce and distribute the report cards. At the beginning of the calendar year, School Report Cards are mailed directly to the parents and guardians of public school students.
Beginning late last month, School Report Cards were mailed to parents and guardians. The final batch is expected to reach homes by the end of April. Questions about individual School Report Cards may be addressed to the school district's central office. Schools and districts also often place their Report Cards on their Web sites.
School and District Report Cards have been produced since the 1999-2000 school year. The Web-based archive includes data from the 1999-2000, 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2002-03 school years.
