(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – The Kentucky Board of Education will meet Wednesday, February 10, at 9 a.m. in the State Board Room on the first floor of the Capital Plaza Tower in Frankfort.
The board’s Audit/Budget Committee will meet at 9 a.m., and the board will meet in full session at 10:15 a.m.
Immediately prior to lunch, representatives from Verizon will present a check for $45,000 to Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday, representing Verizon’s grant for the Thinkfinity project. Verizon Thinkfinity Kentucky is a partnership with Verizon Foundation and the Kentucky Department of Education. The goal of the program is to raise awareness and train teachers throughout the state to use the thousands of free educational resources available on the Verizon Thinkfinity Web site at www.thinkfinity.org. The intent of the resources is to help meet the instructional needs of teachers through top-notch content and effective professional development.
Other agenda items include potential action on state regulations related to the Kentucky Program of Studies, minimum graduation requirements and the interim school assessment program; uniform course codes; and the board’s legislative agenda.
After the adjournment of the meeting, at 5:30 p.m., the Kentucky Board of Education, the Council on Postsecondary Education and the Education Professional Standards Board will hold a joint meeting at the Kentucky Community and Technical College System offices in Versailles. More information about that meeting will be provided in a separate advisory.
