(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – The Kentucky Teaching and Learning Conference (KTLC) celebrates its 30th year with exciting professional development opportunities for educators and public education advocates.
The conference opens Wednesday evening, March 5, with a reception in the Cascade Ballroom. Kentucky Education Commissioner Jon E. Draud is the keynote speaker.
Other featured speakers at this year’s KTLC include:
· Margaret Heritage, assistant director for professional development at the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards and Student Testing (CRESST) at UCLA
· Fred Johnson, executive director of Educational Resource Services
· Jim Knight, University of Kansas Center for Research and Learning
· Crystal Kuykendall, Kreative and Innovative Resources for Kids, Inc.
· Rich Milner, Betts Assistant Professor of Education and Human Development in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Vanderbilt University
· Peggy Olcott, national educational consultant with MiraVia, LLC
· Timothy Shanahan, professor of Urban Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago
- Gordon Shukwit, director for IT, Learning Technologies and International Strategic programs for Apple
KTLC08 will host an “Intelligent Classroom” in Room 109 of the Kentucky International Convention Center on Thursday, March 6. Intelligent Classrooms cement new technologies into the core of education, sparking greater interaction between students, teachers, parents and the community.
