Education Academic Program Consultant (Extended School Services/Secondary Education)

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL), Division of Secondary and Virtual Learning, in Frankfort (Franklin County) has an opening for an Education Academic Program Consultant.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Provide consultative services and technical assistance to local school system personnel, classroom teachers, and other state and private agencies in planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring of Extended School Services (ESS)/Secondary Education programs.

 

Collaborate with various stakeholder groups around budgetary issues, data collection/reporting, data driven decision making, leveraging resources, research-based instructional practices, refocusing secondary initiatives, credit-based transition, drop-out prevention and individual learning plan (ILP) to increase student achievement for at-risk students.

 

Provide technical assistance to local school district personnel, and other state and private educational agencies in the development and leveraging of ESS best practices and resources with Refocusing Secondary for Student Success initiatives and other instructional systems and programs.

 

Provide leadership and advocacy in the area of ESS and other program initiatives.  Actively participate on KDE and stakeholder teams committees to address issues and agency needs.  Ensure districts comply with Kentucky statutes and regulations pertaining to ESS. 

 

Report to Kentucky Board of Education and others on the status and effectiveness of the ESS program.

 

Adhere to the Kentucky Department of Education policies and protocols under the direction of the branch manager and upper leadership.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must be a graduate of a college or university with a Master’s degree in education or a related field.  Must have five years of professional experience in the field of education.

 

SUBSTITUTION CLAUSE:

 

Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement.  Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the required educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

 

Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check.

 

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment is given.

 

In accordance with KRS 161.220 the applicant selected for this position will become a member of the Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System.

 

Pay Grade:  15                

Gross Monthly Salary Range:  $3230.84 - $4280.10
