Besides the Department of Education Master Calendar of Events, it includes school and district calendars and the schedule for statewide testing for the current as well as future years.

School and District Calendars
Local boards of education are required to adopt a school calendar prior to May 15th of each year for the upcoming school year. The calendar shows school days, holidays, professional development days designated for parent teacher conferences.

KDE Event Moratorium for 2010-11
The Kentucky Department of Education each year sets a series of dates during which we ask our own staff and other organizations to avoid being in schools and scheduling events for teachers and administrators. The dates are selected because they are extremely busy times for schools and districts. Please make every attempt to avoid being in schools and scheduling conferences and meetings as designated below:
Note:  The moratorium dates listed below apply to the school levels indicated beside each event.

• Beginning of school year moratorium - Month of August 2010 (all schools)
• EXPLORE, PLAN (middle and high schools) and 12th grade on-demand writing assessments (high schools) - September 13 - 24, 2010
• ACT Administration - March 15, 2011 (high schools)
• ACT Administration Make-up Day - March 29, 2011 (high schools)
• NRT April 11-15 or May 2-6, 2011 (grades 3-7; district decision to administer the NRT one week prior to or following the KCCT Spring Testing window)
• KCCT Spring Testing Moratorium - April 18 – 29, 2011 (all schools; grades 3-8, 10 and 11)
• End of school year moratorium - May 9 - June 3, 2011 (all schools)
• Beginning of school year moratorium - Month of August 2011 (all schools)
