Beginning with the 2011-12 school year, the norm-referenced test (NRT) will be incorporated into the K-PREP assessments for grades 3-8, 10 and 11. Students will receive a CRT score and a NRT score on the new K-PREP.
Please go to the K-PREP Assessments page for additional details regarding the current state assessment.
Information below is for reference purposes only, as this information pertains to an NRT that was administered last in the 2010-11 school year.
As part of Senate Bill 1, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is required to include a norm-referenced test (NRT) as part of the interim assessment program for 2010 and 2011.
KDE has contracted with Riverside Publishing to provide Form B, a state secure form,
of the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS®) for grades 3-7.
The state-required assessments will be provided at no cost to schools and districts.
Those include:
· Grades 3-7: Reading and Mathematics (approximately 3 hours administration time)
· Score reports for individual students, schools and districts
The optional administrations at no cost to schools and districts include:
· Grade 3: Language Arts
· Grade 4-7: Science, Social Studies and Use of Information which are printed in the same book as the state purchased content areas (approximately 2 hours administration time).
· Score reports—if given, Science, Social Studies and Use of Information will be included on the same report as reading, language arts and mathematics.
Optional services available at additional cost to schools and districts include:
· Grade 3: Science, Social Studies and Use of Information (separate book)
· Off grade testing options
· Additional types of tests (for example, Cognitive Abilities Test®)
· Additional reports
As part of the state contract, schools will receive five types of reports: Performance Profile, Building Item Analysis, List of Student Scores, Building Summary and System Summary and System Narrative. All score reports will include Standard Score, National Stanine and National Percentile Rank.
For specific information regarding accommodations and applications of the norms, please read ITBS Accommodations.
