Grade 12 On-Demand Writing is the only part of the Kentucky Core Content Test (KCCT) to be given in the fall.
The Grade 12 On-Demand Writing is comprised of two prompts: a 60-minute direct prompt and a 60-minute passage-based prompt. Both prompts are scored analytically.
The documents and links below contain information regarding proper test administration, scoring rubric, forms and links to released items.
Next Test Administration:
September 15 - 26, 2008
This fall the KCCT On-Demand Writing will be available online for all students taking the grade 12 assessment. The department is starting with writing because of feedback from schools that suggests students use computers for most of their writing; therefore, using computers to measure student performance in writing is very appropriate.
The department is looking for some high schools to participate this fall in the CATS Online pilot administration for general education students. In volunteering to participate in the pilot:
---The department recognizes that there is not a one-to-one ratio of computers to students and plans to offer participating high schools flexibility in the administration of the On-Demand Writing assessment. Schools will be permitted to have more than one test session.
---The majority of the school’s 12th graders should take the assessment online. Schools will have the option to continue testing some students using paper and pencil.
