The Kentucky HIV/AIDS Prevention Education program provides technical assistance and professional development to schools, districts, and other stakeholders in the areas of data collection, policy development, available resources, and evaluation. The purpose of the program is to provide students in grades K-12 the knowledge and skills to adopt healthy behaviors that will keep them free of HIV infection.
This program also coordinates HIV/AIDS prevention education efforts at the national, state, and local levels. The program is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This program operates within the context of coordinated school health and works closely with the Coordinated School Health team at KDE.
