Diversity Statement
With the issuance of this statement, I am reaffirming my commitment to diversity in hiring at the Kentucky Department of Education. I understand and support the value of creating a diverse workforce.
The Kentucky Department of Education, under previous commissioners of education, has done a great job in improving the percentage of minority employees. Our percentage of approximately 15% overall Frankfort-based minority employment exceeds the targeted hiring goal for all state agencies. Even though we hold this strong position relative to overall required or targeted percentage of minority employees within state government, I continue to encourage department supervisors to seek qualified, diverse candidates at all levels of our agency.
I pledge to build on the strong progress we have made and move the agency forward in this vital initiative.
